Making of the “Laundromat” or what I learned working on a feature film for a year - Part 2
In Part 1 of this series, I talked about the preproduction stage of “Laundromat” - an independent feature film, where I was the DP. This article will focus on the actual production stage. Let me preface it by this: “What a fun way to spend 3 months, filming on the weekends! Wow!”.
This weekend (14 August 2010) we have been working on color-correction and color-grading for the “Laundromat”. This is a short clip of a portion of a color-corrected and edited scene. It’s bit shaky cause I recorded it off the screen with the iPhone. Its also more contrasty than what it really is ;) But I think it gives an idea of how the movie will look.
Tips for Independent Filmmakers or what I learned making a feature film for a year - Part 1
This month (August 2010) marks one year since we started working on an independent feature film called “Laundromat”. In a month the film will be submitted to Sundance Film Festival in hopes of getting selected. In 2 months we’ll have a private premier in Washington, DC.
Working on this project has taught me a lot about myself, other people, and most importantly about making movies on a budget. In this article I want to share things I learned that may save you the headache if you’re making a feature-length movie - a feat worthy of praise for any filmmaker, especially an independent. For a casual reader it will offer a glimpse into the magical world of movie making, so read on!
